UKRI Centres for Doctoral Training in AI

The further investment in Centres for Doctoral Training (CDTs) AI builds upon the 16 existing centres funded in 2019. The centres will cover the breadth of AI and its application, bringing novel AI development together with strong domain knowledge.

Through this funding opportunity UKRI will support centres of excellence in research training. Centres will train 5 cohorts of doctoral students, the first of which will start in autumn 2024. These centres will deliver the next generation of internationally excellent doctoral researchers in AI to meet the needs of academia, industry and other employers.

Proposals have been invited in 7 priority areas: Science and research; Health; Environment and energy; Sustainable agriculture and food; Defence and security; Creative industries; Trustworthy and responsible AI.
